This two-part library project has twin objectives, which it will achieve through the loan of books, readings and the holding of meetings for asylum seekers and refugees. On one hand, it aims to meet the cultural, intellectual and information needs of asylum seekers and refugees; on the other, it will place at the public’s disposal documents that help to explain the challenges that refugees are obliged to face.
The vehicle for the intellectual and cultural welcome extended to asylum seekers and refugees will take the form of local and community encounters that encourage the mutual understanding and community relationships required for successful integration.
Although based for the most part in the north of the country, the project will be able to spread wherever the APL has its branches. Plans are being made for cooperation with Luxembourg’s network of libraries and similar projects.
