Œuvre's Sports & Health work is part of a public health approach that aims to encourage physical activity and sports as drivers of individual and collective well-being. Embodying the slogan "Move and be healthy", this work is based on a comprehensive approach to health in which sport is promoted for its therapeutic benefits as well as a way to prevent increasingly common public health issues such as obesity, psycho-social disorders and declining motor skills.
In a world where people are becoming less active, Œuvre highlights the importance of physical activity for the entire population, from its youngest to its oldest members. More specifically, it focusses on the needs of the most vulnerable groups. Children and young people, for example, are dealing with the effects of a sedentary lifestyle, which is impacting their physical development, their academic performance and their mental health. Other groups, such as people with disabilities, people in a position of insecurity and people fighting addictions, are also deeply affected by the lack of opportunities to engage in suitable physical activities.
Œuvre is committed to supporting initiatives that make sport more accessible for everyone and that include actions tailored to these at-risk groups. The objective is to offer suitable solutions that allow all individuals to enjoy the benefits of movement, regardless of age, physical abilities or socio-economic status. By funding varied initiatives, such as those addressing social inclusion, scientific studies or helping people overcome addictions, Œuvre's Sports & Health focus area plays an active role in building a healthier, more inclusive society.
Every gesture counts, and every movement is good for the body, the mind and social cohesion. By investing in Sports & Health, Œuvre encourages everyone to re-imagine the role of sport in our society, and to consider it not just as a leisure activity but as an essential pillar of health and social integration.
