Madeleine Yougye, Director of One People asbl

On the occasion of Black History Month in Luxembourg, we met with Madeleine Yougye, Director of the non-profit organisation One People, to better understand the origins, aims, and challenges of this event within the Luxembourgish context.

In this episode, we discuss the history and foundations of Black History Month, its different interpretations, and the motivations behind its introduction in Luxembourg: why this country, at this moment, and with which objectives? We also look back at the first editions, key activities, and highlights, as well as the realities and questions this kind of event raises today.

The episode sheds light on the importance of telling all the stories that make up our society, giving a voice to those who are too rarely heard, and building together a fairer and more collective memory.
