Far from the spotlight, a small group of volunteers is working to change life trajectories. With From Dreams to Degrees, Bright a.s.b.l. offers targeted and compassionate support to students facing social, economic, or family-related challenges. Their mission? To ensure everyone can pursue higher education despite the obstacles -through financial aid, structured mentorship, and attentive listening.

Some have dreams but lack the means. Others have potential but no support. We're here to close that gap.

An idea born from awareness

At the origin of the project: Patrick and Samuel, the founders – both deeply aware of how vital family support had been in their own academic journeys. Faced with the reality of struggling students, they wanted to create a structure that could offer others what they themselves had been lucky to receive.

No one becomes a nurse, engineer or teacher alone. You need guidance, encouragement — and sometimes, financial help.

Concrete action, even with limited means

Founded in the summer of 2023, Bright began without public funding, relying on personal resources and an unshakable will to act. Their first support went to a nursing student at the University of Luxembourg who was about to drop out. Thanks to Bright — financial aid, regular mentoring, emotional support — she continued her studies, regained confidence, and now holds a signed job offer.

“That’s when we knew our idea worked. That it was meeting a real need.”

A project that is growing with care and structure

Since then, the association has expanded its partnerships — particularly with university departments — and implemented:

  • A clear mentorship guide, accessible to all volunteers,
  • Training workshops for mentors,
  • A personalized follow-up system for student beneficiaries,
  • And continuous fundraising efforts to ensure the project's sustainability.

Support from the Œuvre Nationale has helped Bright accelerate its professionalization, while preserving the human warmth that defines its impact.

Real challenges, human responses

Like any young initiative, Bright faces challenges: securing sponsors, gaining institutional support, managing time as volunteers. But the team presses on with determination — sustained by growing trust among partners and the deep connections built with students.

It’s not always easy, but every thank-you message, every student’s smile reminds us it’s worth it.

A project with multiple impacts

The results of Bright aren’t measured solely in diplomas. They’re seen in:

  • The renewed stability of a student on the verge of giving up,
  • The self-confidence of a young person daring to dream bigger,
  • The role models that former beneficiaries become for the next generation.

By prioritizing support for nursing students, Bright also responds to a broader societal need: strengthening vocations in a sector under pressure.

A long-term vision: solidarity as a virtuous circle

The dream of Bright? To build a community of former beneficiaries who, once professionally established, return as mentors or donors. A virtuous cycle in which each generation supports the next — a growing network of mutual aid over time.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world, ” said Nelson Mandela. That’s our belief too.

A motto that says it all

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Thank you to everyone who believes in what we do. Thanks to you, we’re building a fairer future. And above all, we’re proving that even with little — but with heart — we can already change lives.
