Contributing to the preservation and restoration of biodiversity in Luxembourg

Biodiversity is one of the essential pillars of our quality of life: it ensures the proper functioning of ecosystems, supports agriculture, regulates the climate, and provides spaces for renewal and well-being. Yet, in Luxembourg as elsewhere, the diversity of animal and plant species is rapidly declining, threatened by soil artificialisation, pollution, the loss of natural habitats, and the effects of climate change.

In the face of these challenges, the Œuvre Nationale wishes to strengthen its commitment to environmental protection and to continue the momentum launched in 2023 with the first call for projects, "reNature – restoring biodiversity". This initiative generated considerable interest and enabled the funding of more than 30 concrete projects in support of nature and biodiversity.

With reNature 2, our aim is to support new initiatives that transform ecological urgency into local and sustainable action, carried out by civil society, schools, institutions, and field actors. The objective is clear: to stimulate concrete, measurable projects that restore ecosystems, create habitats for wildlife and flora, develop sustainable agricultural practices, and raise public awareness of biodiversity issues.

These projects should be positive, forward-looking, and innovative, contributing to a transition towards a society that respects all living beings. They should also have a strong territorial anchorage, ensuring that every supported action has a direct and visible impact on biodiversity in Luxembourg.

The reNature 2 call for projects has a total budget of €750,000.

Each project may receive funding of up to €50,000 for a maximum duration of 24 months.

Support will be granted based on an evaluation by the jury and validated by the Board of Directors of Œuvre Nationale.
