On the occasion of World Theatre Day for Children and Young People, the association ASSITEJ Luxembourg breathes new life into the school arts scene with Krop der en Atelier! This unique project offers artistic workshops directly within Luxembourg schools—a free initiative open to all classes in both primary and secondary education.

We wanted to take the performing arts out of their traditional venues and bring them back to where they can plant seeds: in classrooms. While celebrating World Theatre Day for Children and Young People, the idea for this action became obvious to us.

The success exceeded all expectations: 714 applications for just 42 available workshops. Faced with this overwhelming demand, the team held a lottery and launched a major logistical operation to coordinate a tour for seven artists across the country.

We were completely overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the teaching staff. Watching the registration numbers rise every minute during the final week was pure euphoria.

Despite the organizational challenges, ASSITEJ Luxembourg never lost sight of its goal: to promote the performing arts to young audiences and give them a voice within the education system. The association is a passionate advocate for better access to culture, firmly convinced that artistic practices are essential for students' personal and collective development.

The project is grounded in a powerful motto:"Take a child to the theatre today—and let’s bring the performing arts into schools!"

And judging by the massive response from educators, the message has been heard loud and clear.

"We warmly thank the Œuvre Nationale for its ongoing support. It is thanks to their trust that we were able to grow this project and reach more than 624 students across the country."

For ASSITEJ Luxembourg, Krop der en Atelier! is more than just a series of workshops: it’s a heartfelt declaration of love for the performing arts and their place in the school of tomorrow.
